First Nations and Aboriginal

Members of HB Global have had the privilege of working with First Nations and Aboriginal communities across Canada including elected and hereditary leadership, administrative managers and staff, elders, youth, and community members. We have also worked with Nation owned corporations, individual member owned businesses and a wide variety of Aboriginal organizations.

We also have extensive experience working with public and private interests that partner with and/or deliver services to Aboriginal communities. These clients are involved in many sectors, including natural resources, energy, alternative energy, environmental, educational, and transportation enterprises to name a few.

We recognize the critical need to begin all of our assignments, no matter the client or the scope of the project, only after confirming shared values, obligations and responsibilities of all parties. We recognize and acknowledge aboriginal rights and titles and understand that our work must be based on a strong and respectful relationship.

We have worked with First Nations in the areas of strategic and community planning, governance and organizational restructuring, policy assessment and development, program evaluation, business analysis and planning, feasibility studies (business, health care and economic development), contract negotiations, skills assessment and capacity needs analysis, economic and community development planning, as well as general human resources and financial management. Members of our team have also been directly involved in providing a range of advisory services in land and resource planning, regulatory and legislation analysis, procurement and process planning, as well as in the negotiation of Impact Benefit Agreements, revenue sharing arrangements and other forms of participation agreements.
