Alan Rosling is Special Advisor to HB Global Advisors Corp., and is Chairman of Griffin Growth Partners, a specialist strategic advisory firm. Alan assists clients in developing and implement winning strategies in India, and advises emerging Asian multinationals as they globalise. His association with HB Global provides Canadian clients with access to unmatched strategic advice derived from his unique experience as a senior executive at a leading Indian multinational.
Alan has 27 years of experience of India and has lived in Bombay for the past eleven years. He was the first foreigner to join the board of Tata Sons Limited, the holding company of the Tata Group, and for five years was a member of Tata’s Group Corporate Centre where his responsibility was internationalisation. In this period the Group’s overseas business grew from $2.4 billion (24% of total revenues) to $38 billion (60%).
From 1998 to 2003 he was Chairman of the Jardine Matheson Group in India. His earlier career included positions as Special Advisor to the British Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. John Major MP, and a member of the Policy Unit at No.10 Downing Street; Strategy Development Director at United Distillers plc; Chief Executive of Piersons, a division of Courtaulds Textiles plc, and as an investment banker with S.G. Warburg & Co Ltd.
Alan has been active in promoting commercial ties with India for some years. As Chairman, he developed the British Business Group, Mumbai into a very vibrant organisation, and he created and chaired the City of London Advisory Council for India. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Cambridge India Partnership.
Alan was educated at Downing College, Cambridge, and the Harvard Business School. He has recently taken a leading role in fundraising for The Indian Cancer Society. He was made an OBE in 1994.
